Add RSS feeds to Apple Mail

Don’t wish to use Safari or a dedicated RSS feed reader for browsing RSS feeds? The Apple Mail application conveniently includes a nice RSS feed reader. Here’s how to add or remove RSS feeds in Apple Mail.

Start the Apple Mail application and go to . Select the radio button labeled and paste in the URL of the RSS feed and click the button. (Hint, hint! http://feeds.mactoids.com/mactoids)

By default, the sidebar in Apple Mail separates mailboxes from RSS feeds. But if you wish, you may allow the RSS feeds to show in the inbox.
When adding a feed as described above, you could have simply checked the box labeled . But you may add or remove RSS feeds anytime by clicking the feed title to reveal an upward pointing arrow. Click the arrow to add the feed to the inbox. Reverse this procedure to the inbox feed to remove.

Don’t wish to have any feeds in the Apple Mail application? Whaa?! Not even the Mactoids feed? For you radical types, Right Click or Control+Click the feed title and choose . Then click the Delete button on the confirmation dialog that appears.
For example, if you use another feed reader, you might wish to delete the default Apple feed from the Apple Mail application.
