Create a birthday calendar in iCal

Tired of sending belated birthday cards or forgetting the birthdays of loved ones or clients? To help you remember those important dates, just add the birthday field to Address Book and instruct iCal to automatically generate a birthday calendar.

In the iCal menu, select iCal → Preferences and click the General icon in the toolbar. Then check the box labeled Show Birthdays calendar and close the preference dialog window. iCal will add a Birthdays calendar to the calendar list in the left pane, complete with a cutesy birthday cake icon.

Now, no matter which calendar view you’re in, you’ll be hard pressed not to notice upcoming birthdays. Hopefully, sending belated birthday cards will become be a thing of the past.
