Do you have a favorite Mac application that you use every day? You don’t have to open the app manually each time you start up your Mac. Instead, tell your Mac to automatically open your most frequently used apps when you log in. Here’s how.
Go to and click the icon button and then click the tab.
Next, click the little button (it looks like a plus sign) and a Choose dialog sheet will slide out. Now simply choose the application that you wish to open automatically each time you restart or log into your Mac. Add several items if you truly use them each day.
Another way to quickly tell an application on your Dock to open automatically when you log in or start up is to click and hold the Dock icon and choose .
If you don’t need to use the application immediately after you log in, then select the checkbox in the Hide column to have the item stay hidden, but active. This keeps the Login Items out of the way until you’re ready for them.
