This model replaced the 333MHz iMac (Rev. D) released six months earlier.
The 400MHz DV series was available in the same luscious fruit colors as the previous Revision C and D product lines, plus a “Special Edition.”
Customers could choose from Blueberry, Strawberry, Grape, Tangerine, Lime or the Special Edition model which came in Graphite.
This series represented a substantial product refresh and has the distinction of being the first iMacs to include a DVD-ROM drive and FireWire support.
In addition to the faster processor, memory was doubled to 64MB, bus speed increased from 66MHz to 100MHz, hard drive capacity increased and video performance improved with the ATI Rage 128 VR.
The DV series was wireless network ready with a built-in antenna. The speaker system was improved and two 400Mbps FireWire ports and a VGA port opened up a world of new peripherals. The USB ports were enhanced with dual channel.
This series of iMac lacked an internal system fan and would depend on convection cooling.

etymology
[1] iMac: From Internet + Mac
[2] The “i” in iMac originally stood for Internet but eventually developed into a marketing symbol for a wide range of Apple products.
[3] The Slot loading designation is derived from the slot loading optical drive. Previous iMacs were tray loading.
[4] DV: From Digital + Video
