DV SE | Slot Loading | Graphite
DV was the first series to offer a “Special Edition” iMac. The SE came in Graphite with the “regular” DV series available in Blueberry, Strawberry, Grape, Tangerine and Lime.
The Special Edition had all of the substantial upgrades of its regular siblings and more. It had the DVD-ROM drive and FireWire support, the faster processor, bus speed increased from 66MHz to 100MHz and video performance improved with the ATI Rage 128 VR. In addition, it also had 128MB vs 64MB and a 13GB hard drive vs the 10GB.
The entire DV series was wireless network ready with a built-in antenna. The speaker system had been improved and two 400Mbps FireWire ports and a VGA port opened up a world of new peripherals and video mirroring. The USB ports had also been enhanced with dual channel.
As notable as the additions was the absence of an internal system fan. This series would depend on convection cooling.
