A step backward in its optical drive, the DV Summer 2000 series reverted to a slot loading CD-ROM but was reflected in its lower price. The DV series of the previous year had featured slot loading DVD-ROM drives.
The processor, bus speed and memory remained the same as the DV models of 1999, although memory was now upgradeable to a total of 1GB, twice that of its predecessor.
This model was Airport ready and included the ATI Rage Pro 128 graphics controller, VGA output port for mirrored VGA and FireWire support.
The Apple Pro Keyboard and Apple Pro Mouse were now standard equipment replacing the Apple USB keyboard and mouse.
While there were non-fruit colors before this series, (the original Bondi Blue iMac and the first special edition Graphite iMac of the previous year), the Summer 2000 models introduced a new line of non-fruit colors.
This model was available in the new Indigo and Ruby.
Other models in this series included a base model 350MHz iMac and a 450MHz DV+ line available in Indigo, Ruby and Sage. A Special Edition could be had in either Graphite and Snow.
