Early 2001 | Indigo
Indigo was once again the sole color choice for the base model, which had been bumped up 50MHz over the base model of the previous year.
There was little changed from the DV Summer 2000 model released seven months earlier, other than the memory being rated slightly faster and Apple having shaved $100 from the price tag.
This is the only model in the series to have a CD-ROM drive instead of CD-RW. Not even the Special Editions had the DVD-ROM drive as standard equipment.
This low-end model retained the ATI Rage 128 Pro with 8MB SDRAM while its siblings boasted the ATI Rage 128 Ultra with 16MB SDRAM. The Apple Pro Keyboard and Apple Pro Mouse came standard.
The entire Early 2001 series came Airport ready and all included a VGA output port and FireWire support. As the low-end of the series, this model lacked the speed and number of PCI slots enjoyed by the other models in this series.
The Early 2001 series introduced two new funky colors. This model was available only in Indigo, but the 500MHz models came in Indigo and the new Blue Dalmatian and Flower Power colors.
There were three Special Edition models available in Blue Dalmatian, Flower Power and Graphite.

etymology
[1] iMac: From Internet + Mac
[2] The “i” in iMac originally stood for Internet but eventually developed into a marketing symbol for a wide range of Apple products.
[3] The Early 2001 designation is derived from the February introduction date.
