DV+ | Summer 2000 | Indigo

The processor speed of the DV+ models were nudged up to 450MHz and the hard drive capacity doubled to a whopping 20MB.

The bus speed and memory remained the same as its DV siblings with the memory now upgradeable to a total of 1GB, twice that of the original DV models.

This model was Airport ready and included the ATI Rage Pro 128 graphics controller, VGA output port for mirrored VGA and FireWire support.

The Apple Pro Keyboard and Apple Pro Mouse were now standard equipment replacing the Apple USB keyboard and mouse.

While there were non-fruit colors before this series, (the original Bondi Blue iMac and the first special edition Graphite iMac of the previous year), the Summer 2000 models introduced a new line of non-fruit colors.

This model was available in the new Indigo, Ruby and Sage colors.

Other models in this series included a 350MHz iMac base model and a “regular” DV line available in Indigo and Ruby. A Special Edition could be had in either Graphite or Snow.

etymology

[1] iMac: From Internet + Mac

[2] The “i” in iMac originally stood for Internet but eventually developed into a marketing symbol for a wide range of Apple products.

[3] DV+: From Digital + Video. The “+” meaning plus more speed, storage and DVD-ROM drive.

[4] The Summer 2000 designation is derived from the July introduction date.
