Early 2001 SE | Graphite

The Special Edition was definitely the high-end model of this series. The additional $300 bought you an extra 100MHz on the processor speed, doubled the memory from 64MB to 128MB and doubled the hard drive from 20GB to 40GB.

Along with this extra horsepower, it featured a 256K on-chip level 2 cache running at 600MHz and a graphics controller upgrade to the ATI Rage 128 Ultra with 16MB SDRAM. Even the PCI slots received a speed boost with three 64-bit 100MHz slots and one 64-bit 133MHz slot.

The entire series came Airport ready and all included a VGA output port, FireWire support and the Apple Pro Keyboard and Apple Pro Mouse. Unfortunately, a DVD-ROM drive was still not standard in this series.

The Early 2001 series introduced two new funky colors. The Special Editions were available in the new colors of Blue Dalmatian and Flower Power, and this Graphite model.

Other models in this series included the 400MHz iMac base model and the 500MHz models available in Indigo, Blue Dalmation and Flower Power.
