15-inch Flat Panel | 800MHz

This model replaced the original 15-inch Flat Panels introduced the previous year and was also powered by the PowerPC G4 processor with AltiVec “Velocity Engine.”

Priced $200 less than the first flat panels, this model nudged the processor speed up 100MHz, increased the hard drive from 40GB to 60GB and increased the Combo drive speed from 24x to 32x.

Unlike its more powerful 17-inch 1GHz iMac sibling, which used the GeForce4, this model retained the NVIDIA GeForce2 MX like previous 15-inchers.

It was AirPort ready with Bluetooth available as a separate USB adapter. Its 17-inch sibling was Airport Extreme ready with a build-to-order option for an internal Bluetooth module.

There were two FireWire 400 ports, three USB ports (two more on the keyboard), a mini-VGA output port, built-in modem and Ethernet, headphone jack and an Apple speaker minijack.

The series came with the Apple Pro Keyboard, Apple Pro Mouse and Apple Pro Speakers.

system software

Installed OS: Mac OS X v10.2.3 “Jaguar” and Classic Mode
