Mac users have been creating aliases since Mac OS 7 debuted back in 1991. Aliases provide a convenient shortcut to favorite or often accessed files and folders. But have you ever forgotten where the actual file is located? Here’s how to quickly unearth the original.
When you wish to see where the original file resides on your Macintosh, simply click the alias to select it and then press Command+R. Think “R” for “real.” The Finder will open to show you the true location of the original object on your Mac.
