Make an Alias without the word “alias”

Each time you create an alias, Mac OS X dutifully appends the word “alias” to the filename. If you’re the type that always edits out “alias” whenever you create a shortcut, then this tip will save both your time and your sanity.
All that’s required is for you to hold down Option+Command while you drag your intended alias out of the Finder. Doing it this way will create a shortcut without the word “alias” in the filename. All alias icons include a little arrow in the lower left corner to help distinguish them from the original object, which should suffice.
