Quick Google Maps in Leopard

Leopard Google MapsMy iPhone has spoiled me somewhat. I’ve grown accustomed to being able to quickly view Google Maps by simply tapping on an address. Most iPhone owners are aware of this nifty feature but did you know you could do something similar in Mac OS X Leopard? Here’s how.

The next time you have Address Book open, right click or Control+Click an address to display the contextual menu. Then select the item labeled Map Of to have Google map the address in the Safari Web browser.

Apple Mail provides a neat visual cue to make this feature apparent. Hovering your mouse over an address in Mail will cause a gray dotted border to appear. You can still right click the address if you wish or simply click the down pointing arrow and select Show Map to display the Google Map.

On a side note, a similar gray border will appear in Apple Mail when you hover your cursor over a phone number. Then, you’re just a click away from easily adding a new Contact to your Address Book.
