Safari Web browser and recents pages

Safari browser title barThe Safari Web browser will display a list of your most recently visited Web pages if you hold down the mouse button while hovering over the Back or Forward buttons. This recent pages list displays by name but Safari can also display by address or display the URL path. Here’s how.

To make the Safari browser display recent pages by address instead of name, simply hold down Option when you hold down the mouse button. This is handy for when you wish to view the URL without having the visit the page again or delve into your Safari Bookmarks.

As a Mac user, you probably already know that you can Command+Click on the title in the Finder’s title bar to display a pop-up list of your hard drive’s hierarchy. Well, the Safari browser works the same way, only instead of the hard drive, Safari will display the levels of the website you’re browsing.

So the next time you navigate around a website, Command+Click the page name in the Safari title bar to display this list. You can jump directly to any level.

No matter whether you’re in Safari or Finder, you’re not stuck with Command+Click to activate this feature. You can also use Control+Click or Right Click. The choice is yours.
