Take screenshots on your iPhone

I’ve previously explained how to take Mac OS X screenshots using the Grab utility or keyboard shortcuts. But did you know the iPhone can also takes screenshots without the need for any third-party software? Here’s how.

To take a screen capture on your iPhone, simply press the button and the button at the same time. You’ll hear the familiar click of the iPhone camera and the screenshot will appear as a photo in the Camera Roll.

To share your screenshot with a friend by email, go to the iPhone Photos application and open the Camera Roll. Now find and tap your screenshot image to select it and tap the icon on the far left of the bottom menu bar. A menu will open offering three choices – , and . Tap the Email Photo button to send your iPhone screenshot to a friend.

Since your screenshot is saved to your Camera Roll, it will sync like any other image in your iPhone Photo Library. So the next time you sync your iPhone with iTunes, your screenshot will be saved to your Mac or PC.
